THE USEFUL PART

  • Programmable hobby robot dogs cost $299.99 to $569.99 at Hiwonder and $319 to $469 at Petoi.
  • Unitree lists the Go2 at $1,600 to $4,500 and the As2 at $3,100 to $4,650; the buyer pays import charges, and Go2 shipping adds $399 to $1,000.
  • Spot, the Go2 EDU and As2-W are sold by quote; we found no public price for them.

The short answer

A robot dog costs $299.99 to $569.99 as a programmable kit from Hiwonder or Petoi, and $1,600 to $4,650 as a Unitree Go2 or As2 from Unitree's own store, before shipping and import charges. Industrial robot dogs such as Spot, ANYmal and the As2-W are sold by quote.

Every price on this page was read on the maker's own store on 17 October 2026, for the exact package named. Prices change and sales come and go, so check delivery, tax and import charges for your country at checkout. This is a source-based guide, not a hands-on review.

Robot dog prices by model

In the table, each model's cheapest listing is the package with the fewest parts: kit form, lighter servos or no remote controller. Each range runs from that package to the most complete one on the maker's store.

Why a Go2 costs five times a hobby kit

The hobby dogs are small learning kits. Hiwonder describes MechDog as palm-sized, about 560 g, with an ESP32 controller, 8 servos, up to 60 minutes of battery and programming in Python, Scratch and Arduino. Petoi sells Bittle X V2 as a coding kit with block coding, Python and C++, and says some prior coding experience is highly desirable, with adult supervision for children under 10.

The Go2 is a different class of machine. Unitree's store lists its 4D LIDAR L2 with a 360° by 96° field of view as standard, and says orders ship within a month, with shipping of $399 to $1,000 and customs duties, taxes and import clearance paid by the buyer. Our worked example: a Go2 Air with its controller at $1,850 lands between $2,249 and $2,850 before duties and taxes.

What our directory shows

Of the nine robots our directory files as quadrupeds on 17 October 2026, three show a public price, and all three are under $450: Hiwonder MechDog Standard Kit at $299.99, Bittle X V2 from $319 and Petoi's Nybble Q robot cat at $435. The other six, from the Go2 EDU and Spot to ANYmal, Lite3, X30 and As2-W, are sold by quote.

That split is the useful pattern for a buyer. In our directory, a public price comes with consumer and learning robots you can order online, while a quote comes with configured systems whose sensors, software and support are agreed with sales. We read the Go2 EDU, Spot and As2-W pages again for this guide; the ANYmal, Lite3 and X30 records were last checked in September.

Check these before you pay

A low headline price can hide the part you need. Petoi notes that its lite servos cannot carry the optional arm, so adding an arm later means buying the alloy servo version now, and that a Raspberry Pi is not included. Unitree's cheapest Go2 listing has no remote controller. Read the package line by line, then work out the delivered total.

  • The exact package: kit or assembled, servo type, controller and any vision or voice module.
  • The delivered total: shipping, tax and import charges for your country.
  • The software you will use: app, coding tools and whether developer access is a separate edition.
  • The battery: listed runtime, charging time and the price of a spare.
  • The return terms and warranty, read on the seller's page before ordering.

How much is a Unitree Go2?

On 17 October 2026, Unitree's own store listed the Go2 Air at $1,600 without the remote controller and $1,850 with it, the Go2 Pro at $2,800 or $3,050, and the Go2 X at $4,500 with the controller. Shipping costs $399 to $1,000 and the buyer pays duties and taxes. The Go2 EDU is sold through sales.

What is the cheapest programmable robot dog?

Of the robot dogs we checked, the Hiwonder MechDog Standard Kit was the cheapest at $299.99 on 17 October 2026, followed by the Petoi Bittle X V2 construction kit with lite servos at $319. Petoi notes that lite servos cannot drive its optional arm, so choose alloy servos from $379 if you plan to add one.

Can you still buy a Sony aibo?

In Japan, only while stock lasts: Sony announced on 25 June 2026 that aibo ERS-1000 sales there end when stock runs out, while the app, plans, repairs and accessories continue. Sony's US aibo site links to its US store, which we could not read on 17 October 2026, so this guide quotes no US price.
