LIVING WITH THE HARDWARE

Assembly: Not established in the sources checked. New Japanese ERS-1000 sales have ended; inspect the charging equipment and service eligibility of any secondhand unit.
Computer & setup: Sony documents My aibo interfaces for smartphones and computers. For a Japanese unit, verify account transfer and the applicable basic plan before buying secondhand.
Connectivity: Japanese help pages document internet-connected Wi-Fi setup through My aibo and Wi-Fi software updates. Current mobile-network entitlement should be checked for the specific unit.
Development access: Sony publishes a Japanese aibo developer program with Web API documentation. Access requires acceptance of its terms; it is not unrestricted access to internal control software.
