THE USEFUL PART

  • Choose EMO if you want one robot that recognizes faces, follows sounds and answers spoken questions.
  • Choose Eilik if you want a touch-first desk pet for about half the price that works without Wi-Fi or internet.
  • Eilik plus the $99 AI Station adds a camera and conversation for $238.99, still $40.01 less than EMO.

The short answer

Buy EMO if you want a desk robot that notices you: LivingAI lists a camera that recognizes up to 10 people, four microphones that locate sounds and spoken answers to questions, for $279. Buy Eilik if you want a touch-first companion for $139.99 that Energize Lab says works without Wi-Fi or internet.

We read both makers' own stores and specification pages on 17 October 2026, and the prices matched the figures in our directory's price recheck of the same day. This is a comparison of published information, not a hands-on review: we have not tested either robot, and each maker's claims below are labeled as theirs.

EMO and Eilik side by side

Each row comes from the maker's own page. "Not listed" means the page does not state it, not that the robot lacks it. Energize Lab says Eilik's price excludes duties and taxes; LivingAI's EMO page does not say either way, so compare both totals at checkout.

Where EMO is the stronger buy

EMO is the more capable robot on paper. LivingAI says it explores the desk on its own, tracks sounds, recognizes people and objects, and uses four drop sensors under its feet to avoid falling off the edge. It sets alarms, switches the included Smart Light by voice and shows the weather on its face when asked. Those are the maker's descriptions; we have not measured how often any of them work.

It also lasts longer between charges by the makers' own figures: up to 4 hours for EMO against 1.5 hours for Eilik. If you would rather not lift it onto a charger, the GO HOME package adds a Home Station that LivingAI says EMO finds and walks back to by itself, for $90 more than the base robot. Allow for dispatch: the store says orders ship in about 2 weeks.

Where Eilik is the stronger buy

Eilik wins on price, simplicity and play with others. At $139.99 it costs about half as much as EMO, and Energize Lab's FAQ says it works without Wi-Fi or internet, so it can live in a room with no network. It reacts to touch, to being picked up and to play, and two or more Eiliks recognize and play with each other, which makes a two-robot gift a real option at $269.98.

It is also a smaller commitment. When nobody touches it, Eilik goes to standby after 1 minute, sleeps after 15 and switches itself off after 30, according to the same FAQ, so it is a companion you pick up rather than one that watches the room. It charges over USB-C in about an hour, and the product page lists a 90-day warranty.

What the AI Station changes

The comparison narrows if you add Energize Lab's AI Station, a $99 accessory the maker calls Eilik's AI home. It adds a camera with a magnetic privacy cover, natural conversation, recognition of familiar faces and objects, and gesture games such as rock, paper, scissors. Each AI Station needs an Eilik, so the like-for-like price is $139.99 plus $99, or $238.99.

That is our worked example from the two stores' prices on 17 October 2026: an Eilik with an AI Station costs $40.01 less than a base EMO and gets you conversation and a camera, but split across two pieces of hardware. Whether that suits you depends on where it sits: EMO carries its camera and microphones as it moves around the desk, while Eilik's camera is part of the AI Station.

Choose EMO if, choose Eilik if

Use this decision with the two profiles and the side-by-side comparison linked from this page. Neither maker presents its robot as a coding platform on the pages we read; if you want to change in code how a robot behaves, compare learning robots instead.

  • Choose EMO if you want face recognition, sound tracking and spoken answers built into one robot, plus a self-charging option.
  • Choose EMO if longer play between charges matters: 4 hours against 1.5 by the makers' figures.
  • Choose Eilik if your budget is under $150, the robot will live without Wi-Fi, or you want two robots that play together.
  • Choose Eilik with the AI Station if you want conversation and a camera for less than EMO and do not mind a second device.

Is EMO better than Eilik?

EMO does more on its own: LivingAI lists a camera with face recognition, four microphones, spoken answers and up to 4 hours of battery for $279. Eilik is simpler and cheaper at $139.99, works without Wi-Fi and needs the $99 AI Station for conversation and a camera. Which is better depends on whether you want those features built in.

Does Eilik need Wi-Fi?

No. Energize Lab's FAQ says Eilik can work without Wi-Fi or internet, and it charges through a USB-C port. The base robot reacts to touch and play out of the box. The separate AI Station adds conversation, a camera and app features; the product pages we read on 17 October 2026 do not state its network requirements.

Can Eilik talk like EMO?

Not on its own. The base Eilik responds to touch and play with animations and expressions; Energize Lab sells natural conversation as part of the $99 AI Station, which it says remembers the conversation. EMO answers questions after its wake phrase, "Hey Emo", with no extra accessory, according to LivingAI.
